Na Veliki nagradi Avstrije je Bagnaia po sobotnem šprintu osvojil pole position in svojo peto letošnjo zmago. Bagnaia si je kot dirkač tovarniške ekipe Ducati nabral precejšnjo prednost in ciljno črto prečkal 5,191 sekunde pred južnoafriškim dirkačem Bradom Binderjem na motociklu KTM. Tudi Marco Bezzecchi, še en Italijan na dirkalniku Ducati, se je dobro odrezal in zasedel tretje mesto.
